Country Music

Okay, I've heard people say that they like rap music and secular stuff like that because it's the real world. I've also heard these same people putting down country music because it's all about (and I quote) "My wife left me, my girlfriend kicked me out, my truck died on me, I can't get to the rodeo, and my dog just bit my leg." Well, let's see, my comments to them would be: Rap music is (you can quote me on this) "My ------- girlfriend left me for my best -------- friend, my --------- sports car won't go --------- fast enough, I can't get to the -------- concert because I got pulled over by a lame--- cop, and my best -------- friend just screwed me over."

Can you see the similarities here (once you get past all the --------)?

Okay, I'll admit it, I like rap music myself, so I'm not totally putting it down (well, not that much). I just wish people would stop making fun of country music, calling it hick music or whatever! Some of the songs that have gotten so big in the secular marketplace started out as country songs! (ie, I swear, Still the One, and From this Moment On) Most people know or like music by Shawnia Twain; well, she started out as a country singer. And I'm sure you've heard "Blue" by Leanne Rimes on every radio station at one point or another, and you did listen to it, so you like country music after all (if you don't like that song now, don't worry; it got so overplayed I don't think even Leanne likes it anymore *grin*).

Anyway, I like country music more than rap because the lyrics don't hurt my ears, I can actually understand the lyrics, the music videos are a little more modest, and .... well, I just do.
